An initial mission by two KliK Foundation representatives in May 2024 marked the start of an open call for proposals by the KliK Foundation for mitigation activities in various sectors in Tunisia. The call for proposal was officially launched by the Tunisian Environment Minister and the Swiss Ambassador at a joint event in Tunis on 27 May. At an in-person workshop the following day, the KliK Foundation together with officials from the Tunisian Ministry of Environment informed the interested activity developers about the requirements and framework conditions of this call for proposals.

This initial mission also gave the two representatives of the KliK Foundation the opportunity for an in-depth dialogue with both activity owners and government officials. On the one hand, this provided clarification on the individual process steps that lead to the authorisation of a mitigation activity by the two governments involved, Tunisia and Switzerland. On the other hand, sectors with outstanding mitigation potential were identified, namely in the areas of cement production, textile production, waste management / utilisation and renewable energies.

In mid-September, the KliK Foundation will hold a webinar toghether with the Tunisian Ministry of the Environment in which it will present again the requirements and framework conditions of KliK Foundation’s call for proposals and explain the essentials for the financial support of greenhouse gas mitigation activities. Activity developers and owners with proposals for Tunisia are welcome to register.

Time: 10:00-12:00 (CEST) | 9:00-11:00 (Tunisia)
