In Casablanca, the event “Scaling Up Carbon Markets in Africa”, co-organized by Casablanca Finance City Authority (CFCA), Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), and the African Development Bank (AfDB), brought together key financial institutions, regulators, and climate leaders. During the session, Aurélien Pillet presented KliK Foundation’s focus on Article 6.2 cooperation, emphasizing the importance of enabling high-integrity carbon markets to unlock investment opportunities across Africa.
In Rabat, the kick-off of Morocco’s NDC 3.0 process, organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development (MTEDD) and supported by GIZ Morocco, with co-funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU), marked an important milestone. The event highlighted Morocco’s commitment to an inclusive, participatory approach for developing its next Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to align climate goals with socio-economic priorities.
KliK Foundation emphasized that Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement is critical to mobilizing financing for conditional measures outlined in Morocco’s NDC, enabling the implementation of transformative mitigation projects.
A special thanks to all the organizers, speakers, and participants for making these discussions so productive and insightful.
KliK Foundation is actively exploring opportunities in Morocco to support high-impact mitigation activities, particularly through investments in:
Solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS),
Landfill gas (LFG) capture and valorization,
Waste-to-energy projects,
HFC collection and destruction,
and other key technologies that drive measurable and additional emission reductions.
These events demonstrated the power of collaboration between public and private actors to scale climate action. It is inspiring to see the commitment of all stakeholders to building a low-carbon, resilient future for Morocco and the region.
We at KliK Foundation look forward to contributing to Morocco’s energy transition and fostering partnerships to scale meaningful climate investments.
