COP26
We buy ITMOs
We buy ITMOs
The KliK Foundation supports activities that are implemented under Article 6 by purchasing ITMOs. Such activities must be carried out in accordance with bilateral agreements between a Transferring Country and Switzerland.
Bilateral Agreement - a must
Peru, Ghana, Senegal have settled with Switzerland and provide already a sound basis to develop activities. A few more are under negotiation, such as Thailand, Morocco, Georgia, Vanuatu and more. Ask us for further ongoing bilateral leads that may emerge agreements in near future.
Submit your proposals
We do regular international calls and offer ongoing submission for activities in Peru and Ghana.
KliK Support
The KliK Foundation disposes of sufficient funds to purchase the ITMOs sought. By 2030 it expects to spend 500 M – 750 M USD to procure all required ITMOs. KliK supports the development of the Mitigation Activity Design Document MADD in view of authorisation under the bilateral agreement and enters into primary Mitigation Outcome Purchase Agreements MOPA over the term up until 2030.
Requirements
Mitigation activities eligible for support must comply with requirements from national regulation, the bilateral agreements and the Paris Rulebook. Consequently, the support for nature based activities, oil & gas and large grid connected renewables are ruled out. Likewise, activities listed as unconditional contributions by transferring countries are out. At the other hand side, biogas, off-grid and electric mobility for examples are set to be interesting.
